A Three-Day Somatic Ritual to Rest, Reflect, and Re-emerge
A Year in Reflection
I don’t know about you, but it honestly feels like this year has held about ten years inside of it. Lately, I’ve been feeling a real need to step back and get perspective, almost like taking a bird’s-eye view so I can actually metabolize the fullness of what this year has been. I’ve had plenty of small moments of reflection, but not a dedicated space to pull it all together. A space to notice patterns, to let my inner critic take a breath from constantly pushing toward the next thing by acknowledging what has already happened, and to be witnessed in parts of my year that don’t fit into Instagram posts or quick coffee walks with friends.
The end of the year usually comes with a rush: holidays, work deadlines, planning for what’s next. Everything speeds up at the exact time our bodies are asking us to slow down. And then the new year arrives with this feeling of incompletion, not because we didn’t want the year to end, but because we never had the pause to actually sit with it. There wasn’t space to feel what the year meant or who we became through it.
This three-part series is intended to ritualize the end of the year through both the body and the mind. Using introspection, storytelling, creative expression, and embodied practices, we’ll bring all parts of ourselves up to speed with where we are now, so we can walk with two feet under us into the new year.

DAY 1: THE LANDING
Our first evening together is really about being rather than doing, time to let your system land from the business of the end of year, and receiving the medicine of non-hurried down-to-earth human connection. Across so many cultures, winter is honored through gathering, storytelling, and sharing what has been learned or held.
We’ll begin with gentle introspection and reflection before enjoying warm seasonal soup and sharing stories as we break bread. You’re invited to bring something that has brought you ease and comfort through this year, like a creative work, a poem, art, a favorite book, a recipe, or anything that feels symbolic of something you can pay it forward to help others on their path. A moment to share and pass forward a bit of wisdom or expression that has been a resource along the way.

DAY 2: THE LISTENING
This day is about being with this past year without rushing to extract meaning or decide what comes next. We will be making collage journals as a way of letting the year speak back to you through image, color, symbol, and texture. The back of your journal will hold the reflections of this past year; the front will lean toward the more archetypal energies you feel drawn to as you move forward.
So often we enter a new year from the head down, trying to choose intentions before we’ve listened for what’s actually calling us. Creativity gives us another way in. It allows us to externalize our experience creating a pathway to witness ourselves. This will be a day for allow this year's themes, lessons, and insights to arise through imagery.

DAY 3: THE TURNING TOWARDS
The winter solstice marks the moment when darkness begins to give way to returning light. This final day is centered around an embodiment practice and a ritual of release, an invitation to move with what this year has held rather than trying to move on from it. Through guided movement, somatic inquiry, and a closing ritual, we’ll create space for your body to integrate what your mind has been processing.
When experiences aren’t fully metabolized, the future can become tangled with what’s unresolved. Instead of emerging from alignment or genuine desire, our intentions can be shaped by unfinished business, attempts to repair old wounds, avoid certain sensations, or rewrite stories still living in the body. In narrative therapy, this is described as living from an unfinished chapter: the past quietly shaping the future until it is witnessed with honesty and care.
This day is about giving your system a pathway toward completion. By engaging the body directly and participating in a collective ritual of release, you create the clarity and spaciousness needed to step into the next season with steadiness, intention, and two feet under you.

I’m excited to be opening up my home for this gathering. To keep it intimate and grounded, this series is limited to only eight participants. Because of the depth and pace of our time together, I ask that everyone who attends has joined at least one Sacred Pause gathering before. This helps us begin with a shared foundation of community, care, and presence so we can move into this work feeling safe, connected, and supported.
